Just after getting off the ferry from Dawson City there is a sign letting you know the hrs of the U.S. Customs. There is no place to stay along the way unless your in an RV & want to just pull over. The rd is just as the pix show. Better on the Yukon side but still dusty & often narrow. We lucked out that it was a little drizzly so the dust wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
This is the border crossing along with a sign letting you know Alaska has it’s own time zone. There 1hr. later than Canada/Yukon.
At the crossing. This sign is on the side of the crossing guards residence.
Just a short ways up the rd. is the sign. We had to stop for the photo op. It’s a real nice sign.
If you were going to go to Eagle this would be your turn off. Oh the Decisions Dirt rd or more Dirt rd. Actually I think the rd to Eagle is even more narrow in places.
Pix below is just the rd following the river. And the one on the right is rd construction just before Chicken. The wiper is in the way but we veer to the left I think to the right might be new,
Below is a charter bus & us passing on some new graded soft dirt. The charter bus had a pilot car in front of it. but we had no place else to go. The other pix is what I’ll call new Chicken. A new business with a beautiful bldg. food concession, camp ground & gas pumps has opened a couple yrs ago. coming from the Yukon you see this first. The origional Chicken is to the left just up the rd a little farther.
This is the Origional Chicken.
the dust on our car after traveling on the Top of the World Hwy. Not bad We saw much worse in Dawson Creek.
Ok I’m going to post this because I got so far behind. Seven posts is a little much. We have been busy & because our Sprint has been in roam mode except for in Anchorage I’ve been dependent on Wifi.
Hope you all enjoy the 4th. I still have to write the blog for our travels from Tok to Valdez. We are currently in Kenai, AK.
More later
