We left Valdez in the rain on the 1st of July. It was Sunday but because of the construction in Copper Canyon there was still one lane rd. so the pilot car was going.
The falls in the canyon
Then as we gained altitude we had some heavy fog near Blueberry Lake. But before we knew it the sun was out @ clear. We were so lucky for the trip into Valdez having clear skies & Sun. Would have been great to have the same leaving but can’t have everything?
The trip from Valdez to Kenai was lengthy about 425 miles. We stopped 2 nites. Our first stop was @ a dirt pull off that had a couple other RV’s. It was between Glennallen & Anchorage on the Glen Hwy.@ mm A-126.4
Anchorage was a much bigger city then we have been in in A long time. We have been on the road almost one month now.
Our 2nd nite was a big blacktop pull off on the Seward Hwy. Turnagain Pass Rec. area. mm S 68.5 It was a nice break & had a nice walk trail. There were a few other’s that stayed there too. As you come into Seldotna there’s a big Fred Meyers on the left & they have potable water & a dump on the west side of bldg. I think you can stay for 3 nites.
The visitor ctr. in Kenai has a small museum there.
We took a tour through old town to see some of the buildings.
One afternoon took a drive out to Captain Cook St park & on the way back there was a Momma Moose & to Babies.
I think I heard Mike & Steve say they wanted a house boat for fishing LOL
That’s it for Kenai right now. We are going to head to Homer & Mike & Sandy are picking up Mikes Sister to do a few things with her. We’ll meet up again later.
Nice entry! The sun has finally come out.
