Time to keep moving even though the creek was so relaxing. Yoda says lets get moving.
So were off again headed to the wild town of Dawson City. Who knows Maybe we’ll strike it Rich and find a shiny piece of gold. Along our travels we find even bikers can have a challenge with the frost heaves. We’ve dumped the hanging cloths 3 times. And Steve is very careful. One day we averaged 33mph & got about 5mpg.
Moose Creek Lodge. This place looked interesting & fun so we stopped for a break & decided to do lunch. They had a special of beef barely soup and a sausage roll for $7.95. It was pretty good.
How about a nite in this cabin :-)
Yet another road construction site. It was one lane with a light to say when you could go.
Yoda decided he needed to help get to the gold claim. This seldom happens. Dogs in driver lap is a “No” with me. But every once in awhile he gets away with it :-)
YAH we have arrived. We drove through town and stopped @ the visitor center. It was a hot day over 80 so we chose the Yukon Territory campground across the river as it was shaded & then Yoda & the kitties would be cooler. It was $12 a nite no hookups.
This boat is the S.S. Keno.It was part of fleet of sternwheelers that plied the Yukon waterways for over half a century. Mike pulling into the Visitor center.
To get to the campground we chose we had to take a ferry across the river. The campground was 0.3 miles on the other side. Otherwise the ones in town were in the hot sun or 12 miles back out of town. Being from the NW we didn't hesitate @ the ferry idea. That is till we saw the ferry & the landing. As you’ll see in the pix. Below is Mike & Sandy loading.
Ok No turning back now
Mike unloading on other side And then our turn.
Notice the stop & slow signs. And the ramp doesn’t lift up very much.
If you look close you’ll see It’s just “dirt”
They tried to unload a camper pickup before is but he hit our mirror& knocked it loose. Luckily it seems to be ok. the motor works in it. And below to the right is our camp site.
Were here for 3 nites. There’s lots to see in town. The ferry ride takes less than 15 min. and It’s Free. It runs all day & night except for Wed 5am to 7am for maintenance. There is no schedule. You just go & wait for the next run.
