Dawson Creek to Ft. St. John 6-14-2012

Before leaving Dawson Creek we had the windshield patched. We’ll see how it does.

In Dawson Creek we stayed 2 nites @ the Wall-Mart. There were usually about a dozen rigs there both nites Most only 1 nite. On our way out of town we went by Mile “0” RV park where it seems a lot of people stay.

Not far up the rd. we saw a sign for the old Alaska Hwy. Kiskatinaw Curved Bridge. We decided to take a chance & turned off Hwy 97 to take the Motor Home to find it. A few miles & with the rd turning to gravel we found it. Then to decide if we dare take a chance & head over it. Since we are under the weight limit we went for it. Besides there was no place to turn around without unhooking. On the GPS Steve could see that we were paroling hwy 97. In a short while the rd. connects back to Hwy. 97.

On edit…Steve said I forgot to say that The bridge is the only original bridge still in use today. It’s all wood & is curved & banked. It was really cool to take the Motor Home over this piece of history.

It was just a nice drive. We were hoping to see some Moose but no luck.

We came to an area with a 6%grade & then a 10%grade That was just before the town of Taylor, BC DSCN0852  DSCN0855 DSCN0857 DSCN0858

The Blue Bridge is way down heading into Taylor. At the bottom of the 10% grade.

We tried to go to Beatton Prov. Park but it was one that you can make reservations @ & the locals had come in & set a chair or a tent or even put bright tape across the site entrance to save it till they could bring there RV. so stayed with original plan, Charlie Lake Campground. The other park is on the same lake but it’s closer to launch the boat. We were greeted with this sign. I guess the nite before someone saw 2 bears in the playground area the evening before so up went the sign. So far we haven’t seen so much as a bird.

We found a double site that we both fit into. The Bubars are 38ft & were 40ft. so just imagine how big a double site is. $16 each a nite. And if we dump here it $5. The park is beautiful with tall Poplar trees. And not any Mosquitoes.
