Canada June 5th & 6th

When we crossed the border there was very little traffic. It only took about 10 min. & there were just basic questions & the officer only wanted yes or no answers. No we don’t have any guns or Bear spray, No we have no fruit or veggies. And Yoda didn’t make noise or pop up so their was no pet questions. But I do have all his pet records with current Rabies shot.

We stopped @ the Wall-Mart in Abbotsford to find they were remodeling & the guys weren't able to get there fishing license there. So on we traveled to the Wall-Mart in Chilliwack, BC where we spent the nite. Had free wifi @ the Starbucks there.

Left the morning of the 5th & continued north following the Fraser River for awhile. Then it cut off & followed the Thompson river. Stopped in the town of Clinton, BC where Steve & Mike got there season Fresh Water fishing license.

There were 2 places along the road that we had to slow down for construction. We went through 7 tunnels along the way.  The Fraser River was full & fast with a lot of turbulence and fast currents.

The beginning of the trip there were lots of trees & as we came north they became sparser. Like around Ellensburg, WA.

As we went along we caught up to a long train pulling what looked like empty coal cars. There were 3 engines in the back one in the middle & one up front.

We stopped @ Lac La Hache Provincial Park for $16 a night. Paid for 2 nights as Steve & Mike wanted to get there lines wet. It rained all nite but the guys went out in the afternoon & tried some fishing.  But no luck. Below on left is us & on right is Mike & Sandy. This park in very wooded with lots of room.

Before we started on this trip we bought a 66 qt. Edge Star freezer on Craig's list with plans on bringing home some salmon and halibut. Right now it has Beef, Pork & Chicken in It & it runs on AC or DC.

Today the 6th was a quiet relaxing day.

I’m taking these pix on a new camera Steve got me for my B-day It’s a Nikon coolpix P510 W/42X zoom. It really is a simple camera & not as heavy as his camera. I’m still learning to use it.

  1. Hello Steve and Sandy. Thanks for the motivation to blog. I could not get access to my old bloodspot, but I created a new one: http://LarryAndMonsi.blogspot.com. I hope you guys got lots of fish by now. Hope to see you on the road to Alaska somewhere.
